Johns Earns OAC Player of the Week Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its final set of Player of the Week honorees on Monday afternoon. Capital University sophomore Jack Johns has been named the OAC Special Teams Player of the Week after his part in last weekend's win over Marietta College.

Crusaders place kicker Jack Johns (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) hit all four of his point-extra attempts and kept the Pioneers' starting field position in check on his four kickoffs. Following each of his kickoffs, Marietta never began a drive beyond their own 30-yard line and once was pinned inside its own 20-yard line. One of his kicks was not returned and resulted in a touchback.

Of his 41 kickoffs, Johns has averaged 53.7 yards per boot and has achieved seven touchbacks. Johns is 27-for-30 on PATs, good for a 90 percent success rate. He went 4-for-4 in Saturday's 28-21 overtime win versus Marietta.

This is his first such honor and Capital first special team Player of the Week award of the season.
