Football Falls to No. 14/17 John Carroll

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University football team lost to nationally-ranked John Carroll University, 90-0, on Saturday, October 12, at Bernlohr Stadium.

  • John Carroll outgained Capital in total yards, 605-141.
  • Capital put up its most yards through the air. Mitchell Machock went 9-for-16 for 75 yards and one interception.
  • Mike Smith led all CU receivers with five catches for 29 yards.
  • Freshman LB Nick Fisanik led the defense with five tackles, one for a loss.
  • John Carroll rushed for 474 yards, led by Michael Canganelli's 156 on 13 carries. He found the end zone three times and was one of four Blue Streaks to score multiple touchdowns.
  • The No. 14/17 Blue Streaks scored 14 points in each quarter of the first half, then 31 points in both the third and fourth quarters.


Capital (0-5, 0-4 OAC) will hit the road next week to play the second-ranked Purple Raiders of the University of Mount Union. The game will be played in Alliance, Ohio at Mount Union Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
