COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team has set its 2019-20 schedule. The Crusaders will take on 16 teams this season, including conference and nonconference opponents. The Purple and White will play a total of 25 regular season games this year, as well as two exhibition matches against NCAA Division I opponents. The team will play 13 games on the road and 12 at home.

Prior to the start of the regular season, Capital will play in two ehibition games against Division I opponents on the road. The first of the two is against the University Notre Dame on Oct. 29 and the second will be against Ohio University on Nov. 2.
The 2019-20 season will tip at The Cap Center Performance Arena with back-to-back games against Trine University (11/15) and Albion College (11/16). The Crusaders then take to the road to play Denison University on Nov. 20 and will participate in the Geneva Classic the following Friday and Saturday, competing against Geneva College and Grove City College. Both teams made it to the quarterfinals of the PAC Tournament. Geneva advanced to the semifinals. The Crusaders will return home for a matchup against Ohio Wesleyan University on Nov. 26 and will conclude their nonconference competition on Dec. 16 against Manchester University.
Capital will compete against all its conference opponents twice. Their first conference game will take place on Dec. 7 against Ohio rival, Otterbein University on the road. The Crusaders have won the last nine games against Otterbein. Other road conference matchups include Ohio Northern University (12/14), Wilmington College (1/8), University of Mount Union (1/11), John Carroll University (1/18), Muskingum University (1/29), Marietta College (2/5), Heidelberg University (2/12), and Baldwin Wallace University (2/15).
The Crusaders will play their first home conference game against Muskingum on Dec. 11, followed by a matchup against defending OAC Tournament champion, Baldwin Wallace on Jan. 4. Other home conference matchups for the Crusaders include Marietta (1/15), Heidelberg (1/22), Ohio Northern (1/25), Otterbein (2/1), John Carroll (2/8), Wilmington (2/19), and Mount Union (2/22). Marietta ended the season ranked 12th by D3hoops.com and was one of three teams to make it to the NCAA Tournament along with Capital and Baldwin Wallace.
The Crusaders had an impressive 2018-19 season, going 21-8 (14-4 OAC). The team won a share of the regular season championship and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Crusaders made it to the second round after defeating the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The Crusaders look to continue the momentum in hopes of repeating and furthering that success under 25-year head coach, Damon Goodwin.
