KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches has released the association's preseason college rankings for men's and women's soccer in all divisions of NCAA and junior college competition. Capital University Men's Soccer already has the Division III coaches' attention after the poll revealed the Crusaders are receiving votes in its preseason poll.

USC Division III preseason poll

Capital, which has made the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years as an at-large selection, was one of eight teams to receive votes outside of the top 25 national poll at the Division III level. Over the last two years, CU has accumulated an overall record of 28-13-2 (.674) and were Ohio Athletic Conference runners-up both season. Last year, the Crusaders went 15-5 overall and defeated Westminster College (Pa.), 4-1, in the national tournament's opening round.

Eighth-year head Coach Alan Yost loses four seniors from last year's squad including his starting goalkeeper and All-American forward Chewy Gordon. Returning is all-conference and Capital record-holding defender Greg Knox (Oxford, Mich./Oxford), forward Tristan Bentley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Archbishop McNicholas) and midfielders Jamie Robson (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Canal Winchester) and Nick Scharfenberger (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) to lead a host of Crusaders competing for more playing time in 2019.

Defending national champion Tufts University (19-0-2) tops the preseason poll at number one. Also being recognized from within the OAC is defending conference champion John Carroll University, which received votes as well.
