Men`s Cross Country Finish Seventh at OAC Championships

BEREA, Ohio – Late Saturday morning, the Capital University men's cross country team competed in one of the last meets of the season, the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship at Baldwin Wallace University. The Crusaders showed continual improvement and as a team, finishing in seventh place out of 10 teams.

Capital sent out eight runners to compete in a field of 138 at the Cleveland Metro Parks. Junior Andrew Stroh (Hilliard, Ohio) was once again the first Crusader to cross the finish line at 26:41.1. His time was 32 seconds quicker than his last 8k appearance at the All-Ohio Championships and delivered him a 27th-place finish.

His running mate, sophomore Derek Knabe (Cincinnati, Ohio), finished in the top half of the competition with a time of 27:14.0, good for 48th place. Coming in next for Capital with a sub-30 time was sophomore Aaron Fox (Commercial Point, Ohio) at 27:52.8.

Junior pair Christian Vermillion (Hilliard, Ohio/ Hilliard Darby) Kaleb Perez (Woodville, Ohio) crossed the finish line in 28:30.7 and Kaleb Perez (Woodville, Ohio) was not too far behind with a time of 28:21.6.

Freshman Walker Bryce (Columbia, Md.) making his second appearance of the season and finished at 31:29.7. The last Crusader to cross the finish line was freshman Andrew Choate (Columbus, Ohio/Westland) at 35:06.1.

The OAC Championships saw Ohio Northern University (39) as the event's first-place team finisher. Taking second place was John Carroll University (62), and the third place finisher was the University of Mount Union (75). For the third straight year, Alex Wilson from Mount Union won the individual title with a time of 25:07.6.

Capital will compete at this year's Great Lakes Regional Championship, hosted by the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, on Saturday, Nov. 14, in Terre Haute, Ind.
