Women’s Soccer Continues Hot Streak with 2-1 Win Over JCU

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team's win streak reached seven as they were  victorious, 2-1, over John Carroll University. The Crusaders celebrated its Senior Day on Saturday night at Bernlohr Stadium by remaining unbeaten against OAC opposition.

The Crusaders fell behind early when the Blue Streaks scored in the 13th minute, making the score 1-0.

Capital regrouped and responded in the 19th minute when junior Becca Cartmill (Temecula, Calif.) perfectly placed shot over the jumping JCU keeper from just inside the box to score the equalizer.

The Crusaders wasted no time to take its first and only lead, scoring a minute into the second half. Junior Claire Quinn (Coto de Caza, Calif.) took a free kick from the far side of the pitch and blasted it out of the keepers reach, giving Capital a 2-1 lead.

Senior Kim Leitch (Rocky River, Ohio) made three saves and recorded her seventh win of the season. The Crusader defense was stout only allowing nine shot attempts. Capital outshot John Carroll 20-9 for the match.

The Crusaders (11-4-0, 7-0-0 OAC) look to remain spotless in conference play on Tuesday Oct., 27 at Heidelberg at 4 p.m.
