UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – After falling behind early in the game, Capital University Women's Soccer (7-7-1, 5-2 OAC) mounted a late comeback attempt that fell just short in the team's 2-1 loss to John Carroll University (8-5-2, 4-2-1 OAC) on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Streaks got the scoring started in just the third minute. Katie O'Donnell scored her second goal of the season and Jaclyn Audino picked up the assist to put John Carroll up 1-0.

John Carroll added their second in the 26th minute with O'Donnell's second of the match. Justina Fortman assisted.

The Crusaders pulled one back in the 83rd minute, a header from Jayde Hoffman (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) from Bridget Mallin (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) to make it a one-score game. Capital was only able to take one more shot before the final whistle.

The Crusaders and Blue Streaks were each able to generate offense with Capital taking 17 shots and John Carroll taking 15.

Goalkeeper Kelly Bachmann (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) played all 90 minutes in goal for Capital and made six saves.

The loss was Capital's second Ohio Athletic Conference loss of the season and the Crusaders currently sit in second place behind Ohio Northern University at 5-2.

Capital will be at home on Tuesday, Oct. 24 to take on Heidelberg University in the team's next match. That game will kick off at 7 p.m.
