Capital University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in partnership with the sorority Alpha Sigma Alpha, hosted a Special Olympics Play Date Sunday at the Capital Center.

Nearly 20 Special Olympians attended the event, which featured stations to participate in basketball, soccer, track and field, football, softball, baseball, volleyball, cornhole and tennis. Arts and crafts tables were also available, and refreshments were served.

Capital student-athletes representing nearly all 18 of the school's varsity sports tended each station, playing with the Special Olympians and teaching them the fundamentals of their respective sports. SAAC is advised by head volleyball coach Pam Briggs, who helped coordinate the initiative.
