WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Saturday afternoon Hannah Westhoven led the Capital women's cross country team at Otterbein University. Capital finished in the top half of the field of competition at Saturday's Otterbein Invitational.
Junior Hannah Westhoven (Napolean, Ohio) grabbed the title of top Capital finisher and led the pack across the line in 24:49.2. Her run was good for a top-25 finish, as well. Westhoven placed 23rd overall.
Senior Sarah Rini (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) was the next Crusader to cross the line, and rounded out the overall top-25 with a time of 24:52.8. Her time was nearly one minute better than her time at this meet last year.
Senior Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) placed 55th overall in a field of 214 competitors finishing the 5k course in 25:51.0.
Making a dash for the finish, sophomore Mackenzie Meyers (Ashville, Ohio) served as the fourth woman to come across the line for Capital with a time of at 26:15.2
Sophomore Aislynn Brant (Union, Ohio) rounded out the top five of her team, clocking in a time of 26:57.1.
Finishing first in team standings was host Otterbein University with 46 points. Kenyon College took second with 72 points, and the University of Findlay wrapped up the top three teams with a score of 119. Capital (238) took ninth overall edging out The College of Wooster by three points, and was 22 points off the pace of eighth place Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Capital will co-host their next meet on Saturday, Sept. 24, with Columbus State. The Capital Invitational will be held at CSU's Delaware campus. More information will be provided about the meet later this week.
