Capital Finishes 29th at Great Lakes Regional

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Capital University women's cross country team participated in the DIII Great Lakes Regional Championship at Calvin College on Saturday afternoon. Capital placed 29th out of 34 teams. 

Freshman Eva Bernhardt led the Crusaders with a time of 24:02.8, placing 115th out of 233 participants. This marks Bernhardt's career-best 6k time and the fastest finish for Capital Women's Cross Country this season. 

Freshman Allison Costanzo finished second for the Crusaders and 162nd overall with a time of 25:28.5. This was also a personal best for Costanzo. 

Rounding out the Capital scorers was sophomore Kayleigh Noecker (26:20.3, 187th), Heather Fryman (26:57.5, 202nd) and freshman Willow Cox (27:19.9, 206th). Each of their finishes were personal bests. 

John Carroll University took home the team title after logging 83 points, defeating Baldwin Wallace University (84) for the trophy. Evie Bultemeyer from Trine University earned the individual title, finishing the 6k race with a time of 20:58.4.
