Capital University Men’s Basketball welcomes Nick Felhaber to the staff as an assistant coach. Felhaber’s primary duties will be to serve as a scout and prepare and execute practice plans for the Crusaders. He began his duties on May 23, 2019.
Felhaber spent the last two years working with The Hoop Group, one of the premier Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) programs in the States based out of Neptune, N.J. There, he began as the director of external partnerships and was later promoted to the director of recruiting.
“Nick is a hungry and energetic young coach coming from one of the best AAU programs in the country (The Hoop Group)”, said Head Coach Damon Goodwin. “He is originally from Toledo and knows the AAU scene very well to help with our recruiting efforts.”
Prior to working with The Hoop Group, Felhaber was the head coach of the New Jersey Shoreshots 15U team and the assistant coach of the 17U team. He was responsible for recruiting talent primarily from the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania areas.
Felhaber is a 2015 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University where he played and captained the Battlin’ Bishops men’s basketball team. At OWU, Felhaber earned Honorable Mention All-NCAC honors and his senior class graduated with the most wins in school history. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in management economics. He is completing his master’s degree through Ball State University (Ind.) in athletic coaching education and is set to finish this summer. He also holds a USA Basketball Gold Coaching License.
Nick was married to his wife, Samantha, prior to the start of the 2019 basketball season.
