AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced the results of its annual indoor track & field poll on Wednesday with the conference's coaches picking Capital University Men's Track & Field to finish eighth in the upcoming indoor season. Capital earned 27 points in the poll
The Crusaders will be a young bunch in 2019 with three seniors, one junior, six sophomores and nine freshmen. Sophomore thrower Josh Miller (Botkins, Ohio/Botkins) returns after recording seven top-five finishes in the shot put last year while senior jumper John Seman (Ashland, Ohio/Hillsdale) placed third at last year's OAC Indoor Championships in the high jump.
The University of Mount Union garnered 80 points and eight first-place votes to top the poll while John Carroll University placed second with 70 points and the last two first-place votes. Ohio Northern University placed third with 62 points while Otterbein University's 59 points placed the Cardinals fourth. Baldwin Wallace University and Heidelberg University were slotted in fifth and sixth, respectively, with 48 and 42 points. Wilmington College finished just ahead of Capital in seventh with 30 points while Muskingum University (17 points) and Marietta College (16) rounded out the poll.
Capital's season is fast approaching with the team's first meet scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12 when the team will travel to Otterbein for the Otterbein Invite.
