WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital University Men's Track & Field braved the elements on Saturday at Otterbein University's annual April Fools Invitational and earned 40 points to finish eighth out of 17 teams.
Capital picked up the majority of its points in the field events, led by John Seman in the high jump. The senior won the event and set a new outdoor personal record by clearing 1.92 meters on his second attempt at the height.
Sophomore Josh Miller and freshman Joseph Eskra each placed third in their respective events. Miller achieved a mark of 14.90 meters in the shot put and Eskra cleared 4.35 meters in the high jump. Nate Hayes placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.92 meters. Miller also finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 40.91 meters and ninth in the hammer throw with a launch of 41.73 meters, a new personal record.
After qualifying for the finals in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25 seconds, sophomore Noah Meeker placed fifth in the finals and improved his mark to 11.13 seconds, an outdoor personal record by 0.01 seconds.
Meeker also finished first of four Crusaders in the 200-meter dash with a seventh-place time of 23.04 seconds. Cole Williams finished less than a second behind Meeker but placed 18th.
The Crusaders will be back in action next Saturday, April 6 at Muskingum University for the Musky Invitational and All-Ohio Multi Championships.
