AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – On Monday, March 23, Capital University senior Brooke Billings was named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week following her complete-game shutout against Baldwin Wallace University in the conference opener last weekend.
The honor is the fourth of her Capital career and her first of the 2015 season.
Billings, a Clyde, Ohio native, held Baldwin Wallace to just two hits and did not surrender any runs in the Crusaders' 5-0 win on Saturday. The senior struck out four while walking only two Yellow Jackets hitters. Billings shut down the Yellow Jackets in order in each of the first three innings before allowing her first base runner. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate in the same game.
Capital will make a decision on the status of their doubleheader with Wittenberg, tonight. They were scheduled to play the Tigers in Springfield, Ohio today but was postponed due to weather. Their next regularly scheduled games will be a twinbill against Bethany College (W.Va.) on Thursday afternoon.
