AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Following a week in which she recorded double-doubles in back-to-back games, Capital University senior Erin Risner was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the conference office. The announcement came on Monday afternoon.
Risner had a productive week after posting consecutive games with more than 10 points and rebounds in a pair of wins over Muskingum University and Ohio Northern University. In her last two games, the Canfield, Ohio native averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game to help Capital in those wins and extend its current winning streak to six games.
Versus Muskingum, Riser dropped 15 points and 11 rebounds and then came back to score 18 and pull down 12 rebounds in a key road win over Ohio Northern. She shot a combined 14-for-22 (.636) in two games and all 18 points in Saturday's road victory were scored from the field. Eight of her 23 rebounds were on the offensive end. In addition, Risner also tallied five steals and two blocks.
Risner has now been named OAC Player of the Week twice in her career. She was tabbed with the honor last year on Jan. 29, 2018 when she put together a solid outing against the same two teams as her most recent award.
Capital looks to continue its current winning streak against the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night at The Capital Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
