AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – After totaling 14 points over two games this past week, Capital University Women's Lacrosse midfielder Makenna Ozenghar was named the Ohio Athletic Conference's Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. This is the second time this season Ozenghar has received the award.
The senior scored six goals in Capital's two games and tallied eight assists for 14 total points. Against Cabrini University on Feb. 26 in Florida, Ozenghar scored four goals and dished out three helpers in a 19-12 loss. Her four goals, three assists and seven points were all season-highs to that point and she won a season-high seven draw controls and caused a season-best four turnovers. The seven points were a new career mark.
In Capital's 16-3 win over Ohio Wesleyan University on March 2, the Youngstown, Ohio native scored a pair of goals and recorded a career-high five assists and matched her career best of seven points for the second consecutive game.
Through four games, Ozenghar leads the Crusaders with 19 points this season, leading the team with 10 goals and nine assists. Her 11 caused turnovers also lead the team and she is second with 18 draw controls.
The 2-2 Crusaders will look to improve to above -.500 for the first time this season on Saturday, March 9 against Rhodes College. First draw is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Bernlohr Stadium.
