WAYNESBURG, Pa. – Capital University Women's Soccer earned its second shutout of the season with a 3-0 decision over Waynesburg University. Capital featured two different goal scorers, leading to its third victory of the season.

The Crusaders defense was strong throughout the game and surrendered only two shots in the first half and just four in the second. Capital held a vast advantage over Waynesburg in shots taken, 20-6. Senior keeper Kim Leitch (Rocky River, Ohio) picked up her first win while saving all three of the shots on goal.

Leitch's counterpart, Ciara Scott, made seven saves on 10 attempts.

Capital scored in the 55th minute when junior forward Becca Cartmill (Temecula, Calif.) scored on an unassisted goal. Cartmill beat a defender causing her to fall down and then beat the keeper who came out to the top of the box to challenge her approach, giving the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.

Cartmill scored again in the 72nd minute off of a perfectly placed ball from sophomore Chloe Brown (Monclova, Ohio).

Capital scored its third and final goal in the 85th minute. The finish was made by senior Emily Krause (Macedonia, Ohio) coming off a well-placed ball from sophomore Claire Quinn (Coto de Caza, Calif.) stemming from a corner kick.

The Crusaders (3-2) will be in action at home against Defiance College on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
