WESTERVILLE, Ohio – For the third time in four games, Capital University Women's Soccer (3-5-1) was forced to play an overtime period. The previous two overtime matches did not produce a win but on Saturday against rival Otterbein University (7-1-1), the Crusaders felt the joy of victory in a 2-1 triumph, Otterbein's first loss of the season.

With the game tied at one in the first overtime period and Capital on the offensive, Amanda Kachaylo (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) was able to slip past the Cardinal defense and towards goal. Chloe Brown (Monclava, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) saw Kachaylo's run and fed her the ball on the near side and Kachaylo was able to convert the game winner. It was the first goal of the season for Kachaylo.

Capital earned an early 1-0 advantage in the seventh minute thanks to a goal from Carlee Murry (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby). Maggie Peddicord (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) led Murry with a pass through the Otterbein defense and Murry buried the ball inside the near post. The goal was Murry's second of the year.

Otterbein tied the game in the 81st minute with a goal from Myiah Kelley from Alyssa Spencer.

In overtime, Otterbein was the more aggressive team to start with three shots in the first five minutes. The Cardinals took seven shots in the overtime period, three on goal. Capital only took one but it was all that was needed.

For the game, Otterbein outshot Capital 25-16 but only had an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Kelly Bachmann (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) got the start for Capital and made nine saves in the game.

With the win, Capital is 1-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play and will host Wilmington College on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at Purmort Field at Bernlohr Stadium.
