Crusaders Fall to Denison, 2-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Capital women's soccer team was defeated by Denison, 2-0 on Wednesday night at Bernlohr Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 6-3-0 on the season. 

MATCH SUMMARY 

  • The Crusaders started the match off strong with several shots right out of the gate. Two of those shots were on frame. Senior Maggie Peddicord had a solid opportunity in the 22nd minute, but her shot was sent wide of the net. 
  • Denison responded in the 24th minute when Abby King scored off an assist from Claire Kolff to put the Big Red on the board. 
  • Capital had several opportunities late in the first to tie up the score, including two shots on goal from freshman Avery Hart. However, the Crusaders but could not break through and ended the first down by one. 
  • Three minutes into the second, Claire Kolff scored Denison's second goal of the evening. 
  • Late in the second, senior Carlee Murray took a shot in hopes of putting the Crusaders on the board, but fell short when her shot was saved by Denison's goalkeeper. 

MATCH NOTES 

  • Capital had a total of 11 shots, seven in the first and four in the second. 
  • Junior Kelly Bachmann had five saves and played the entire 90 minutes. 
  • The Crusaders were called for five fouls during the match. 

UP NEXT 

The Crusaders will play at home Friday, Sept. 27 against Adrian College. Kickoff was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., but will now take place at 7 p.m.
