WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University`s women's track and field team competed at the All Ohio Championship meet Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders qualified for six events as they took on some of their strongest NCAA Division III competitors.

Junior Taylor Atkins (Bethel, Ohio) made the big score of the day with a high mark in the women's high jump of 1.55 meters (5-01.00).  Freshman Elona Greenhoff (Eastlake, Ohio) was right on her heels with a jump of 1.55 meters (5-01.00), taking 10th place.

Freshman Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio) made her first All-Ohio arrival a good one, as she set a personal record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.42, missing one of the top spots by mere seconds.

The women's distance medley team made their appearance at All-Ohio in a big way, shaving off almost two minutes of their previous time after clocking in at 13:52.9.  The relay team included junior pair of Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) and Shalynn Dornbush (Hopedale, Ohio), and sophomores MacKenzie Ciganick (Bellaire, Mich.) and Sami Koester (Grandview Heights, Ohio).

Junior Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio / Hamilton Township) barely missed the finals with a throw of 11.71 meters (38-05), good enough for a 10th-place finish.

Taking first place this year was the University of Mount Union with 98.50 points. Not too far behind was the host of the meet, Otterbein University, with 94.50 points, and Ohio Wesleyan University with 78 points rounded out the top of the competition.

The next time you can catch the Crusaders will be at home at the Rick Meindl Last Call meet hosted at the Capital Center (Columbus, Ohio) on Saturday, Feb. 20.
