Women’s Track and Field Wraps Up All-Ohio Championship

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Capital University`s women's track and field team competed in the All-Ohio Championship, Saturday afternoon. With clear skies and a sunny day, the Crusaders out a 13th place finish out of a field of 18 competitors.

Freshman Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio) held her own in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.28, which was good for a third-place finish.

The field events left their mark on the meet with several top place finishes.

Sophomore Chelsea Carpenter (Cincinnati, Ohio) showed up in a major way with a third-place toss of 40.04 meters (131-04) in the discus. Carpenter took one of the last spots going into finals and threw an eighth-place finish throw of 11.51 meters (37-09) in the shot put.

Sophomore Amber Thomas (Cleveland, Ohio) stepped up this week in the shot put with a season best throw of 12.79 meters (41-11) taking a fourth-place victory.

Also setting new season bests were Megan Watt in the discus (34.45m), Jordan Lyle in the pole vault (3.10m) and Caitlyn Tulloss in the 400 (1:00.46).

The host Ohio Wesleyan University (122) took first place this year. Coming in second place was Oberlin University (98), and not too far behind was Otterbein University (97) in third place. The Crusaders posted 24 points, taking 11th overall.

The next time the Crusaders will be in action is at Otterbein Invitational at the Memorial Stadium (Westerville, Ohio) on Saturday, April, 22.
