Women’s Cross-Country Competes at All-Ohio Championship

CEDARVILLE, Ohio– Capital University Women`s Cross Country fought the cold, wind and the rain again this year at the annual All-Ohio Championship, held at Cedarville University. Capital had some tough competition Friday afternoon facing 41 other teams from Division I, II, III and NAIA. Capital finished in 14th place and ahead of three other Division III teams that included Muskingum University, Heidelberg University, and Defiance College.

For the second year in a row, junior Hannah Westhoven (Napolean, Ohio) was the first Capital harrier to cross the 6,000-meter race line in a time of 24:25.1.

Senior Sarah Rini (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) was the next runner clocking in at 24:43.2, shaving off over a minute of her previous time from last year.

Sophomore Mackenzie Meyers (Ashville, Ohio) fought her way to the top of the Capital group, coming in at 25:16.0. Al Corrigan (Burton, Ohio) was the next behind crossing the finish line in 25:41.1.

Senior pair Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) and Caitlyn Tulloss (Utica, Ohio) respectively finished the course in 25:50.3 and 25:52.2, rounding out the Capital crew.

Taking first place in the Division III team standings was Otterbein University (51) for the second consecutive year. Oberlin College (66) took second this year. Capital finished 14th out of 17 Division III teams.
